Tennis anyone…
What an amazing summer of tennis it has been in Australia this year. Bamboo and Lotus helped in a small way at the Brisbane International Tennis with a foliage wall that we produced for the Suncorp Customer Zone.
We loved being involved and have also enjoyed watching the amazing players throughout the season ~ it certainly made for exciting viewing …
Floating Bonsai… sublime and very, very cool….
I love things that are out of the ordinary.. even a little bizarre … and this little discovery I have to say ~ made me very excited.
The Japanese Art of Bonsai originated from the Chinese practice of Penjing from the 6th century onwards.
Bonsai aesthetics are the aesthetic goals characterizing the Japanese tradition of growing an artistically shaped miniature tree in a container. Many Japanese cultural characteristics, in particular the influence of Zen Buddhism and the expression of Wabi-Sabi, inform the Bonsai tradition in Japan.
Established art forms that share some aesthetic principles with bonsai include Penjing and Saikei. A number of other cultures around the globe have adopted the Japanese aesthetic approach to bonsai, and, while some variations have begun to appear, most hew closely to the rules and design philosophies of the Japanese tradition. Personally, I feel the Art forms of the Bonsai are as spiritual and beautiful as the philosophies associated with it and these…
And these floating Bonsais… well, they almost transcend the realms of Utopia …
Needless to say ~ I am already on a mission of discovery making them…

It’s an ongoing, ever changing, magnificent expression session with love from Mother Nature….
A little taste of some of the lovelies we have in the shop this week… but due to the heatwave we are currently experiencing in Brisbane… all our Roses, Tulips, Hyacinths and other cooler climate blooms are definitely staying in the florist fridge… but still happy to go home with you to enjoy too…
